Osteoarthritis (1): Inflammatory and non-inflammatory arthritides may also cause low back pain. Degenerative disc disease or osteoarthritis of the spine is probably the most common form of arthritis. Although it is a chronic condition, osteoarthritis of the lumbar spine may be associated with intermittent acute exacerbations of low back pain.
Osteoarthritis can cause significant soft tissue pain and swelling during acute phases.
The low force specificity of the Activator can be particularly effective in restoring and maintaining mobility while minimizing patient discomfort. |

The X ray below is that of the lumbar (lower back ) spine. The disc spaces are in between the vertebrae. Each disc space is assiciated with 2 vertebrae, therefore having two numbers for its name. In this example, the white arrow points to L4/ L5 disc space. Note the difference between the L3/L4 (black arrow) and the L4/L5 (white arrow) disc spaces. The white arrow shows the collapse "degeneration" or "osteoarthritis" of the L4/L5 disc compared to the normal L3/L4 disc black arrow.
